About the project

Mission statement: To develop and test "unofficial" patches and add-ons enabling support of patent-free MIPS clone cores in open-source software such as the GCC compiler collection, the Linux kernel, *BSD kernels etc.
Greater objective: To contribute to the development of reliable low-cost embedded platforms based on open-source, patent-free software and hardware.

Project status

The project is presently in the planning stage. All questions and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Releases

While the project has not made any official releases yet, pre-release bits may be available from the random_bits page.
The project forums are open to everyone who wishes to participate in the planning stage.
 

The terms MIPS Clone and MIPS Core are used here to indicate a generic family of RISC cores fully or partly compliant with the Stanford MIPS specifications.
MIPS is a registered trademark of MIPS Technologies, Inc., who are not affiliated with this project or its authors.
